The innovative introduction of plastic in fashion this season has us yearning to recycle.

HE SAID
DANIEL SAYS | Futuristic fashion is a love of mine so I’m definitely obsessed with this trend. It’s the best way to move fashion forward and try some unconventional fabrications. Even though it seems completely unapproachable on the runway, plastic can work amazingly for everyday through accessories like shoes, bags (clutches), and jewelry.

SHE SAID
IRIS SAYS | I think plastic is prettiest when you wear something different underneath, especially if the plastic is completely clear like those flawless Burberry finale coats. A plastic coat or something could add a shiny finish to a plain black dress or add an avant garde feel to a lace frock. They also can give your look a 90s revival style. Plus, it’s an easy wash… wipe it and go! Haha.

TIPS
- Use a cheap, colored plastic pencil case as a Christopher Kane-esque clutch.
- Look for plastic bracelets and necklaces at stores like H&M and Forever 21, they’re all over the place!  (Usually in packs with other accessories.)
- Plastic heels are the everyday glass slipper. Don’t be afraid to try shopping for some unconventional footwear like blogger, Styloretic
- The hardware store is your fashion friend! DIY some Perspex jewelry with IvaniaCarpio’s tutorial

The Biggest Trends
These four trends are definitely at the height of fashion for Fall/Winter 2011.

SEX & SHEER
HE SAYS | Like in the Stella polka dot look, designers took a route in making evening revealing and sleek. Black sheer fabrics like at Givenchy and Louis Vuitton gave fashion an almost fetishistic look, especially when paired with leather harnesses like at Alexander McQueen. The hardcore look was daring but uber-feminine and soft.

POLKA DOTS
SHE SAYS | Even though Daniel doesn’t love them, I think that polka dots are godly. I like how Stella McCartney did the polka dots in a unique way with leather cut outs and sheer overlays instead of just as a pattern. Alternatively, the polka dot pattern looks so adorable in colorful styles too.

BLACK & WHITE
HE SAYS | High contrast is so in this season. Black and white paired together in multiple shows from Phoebe Philo’s Celine to Marc Jacobs to Burberry to Rick Owens to Jil Sander to Yves Saint Laurent. The color scheme gave all of the Fall looks—whether hyper feminine or minimalist masculine—a classic feel.

TURTLENECKS
SHE SAYS | Turtlenecks have not been in fashion for a while which makes them look really fresh and modern this season. The turtleneck looks cool paired with collarless coats or jackets. Also, it reminds me of The Beatles and how can you not love that?
